SATA HDD problem

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I've been having one heck of a time getting this to work by myself and finally broke down and have come here for wisdom. Here we go.

I custom built this PC i'm running. Motherboard is ASUS A7N8X Deluxe. Initially I bought one MAXTOR 120GB SATA HDD. Later on I bought a second (exact same model).

I do not wish to run these in a RAID configuration. What I want to do is run them as separate HDDs to maximize my storage capacity.

How do I have to format the 2nd HDD in order for my boot drive to recognize it? As it is now they both have XP on them because of something I had to do a while back. I tried to boot it up like this a while back in hopes that I could manage the 2nd HDD and format it in Windows. I couldn't. Also formatted it a dozen other ways.

I've done QUITE alot more than i'm mentioning here, but it is all a spaced out blur to me and the bottom line is that it does not work.

I'll post more later if the info would help. Thank you.
