airdog
Ok, before I get blasted by someone I'll admit that I'm a total noob to doing this. However, I have looked through the guides and posts in this forum and I'm not finding the info I'm looking for. I kind of feel like I've been shopping for wallpaper all day. Problem: I do an "Unattended" WinXP SP2 (slipstreamed w/hotfixes) that I created with nLite. During the installation the install stops and prompts me for a "Full Name". I enter a name and after the install is complete it boots into an "Administrator" account. I do installs on mutiple machines so I don't want the same name on all of them.Question: How can I get it WinXP to start directly from the account name that I entered during the install process and not default to the Administrator account? The only reason I'm asking this is that I made a WinXP SP2 disk about 8 months ago and it would boot directly into the account name that I entered during the install. Somehow I've lost that disk, and also upgraded nLite from .99.7 to version 1.06 as well as added other hotfixes.Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Hatefulsorrow
If you don't have the Microsoft Deployment Tools software, get it. Look into the winnt.sif. There are many different options and settings for users and groups. I may be wrong about it helping you with your problem but it's at least a place to start.CheersHatefulsorrow
InTheWayBoy
Yeah...it's in the *.sif I bet. There is a few entries that can make the computer always logon with the Admin account. Post your *.sif and I'm sure one of us will be able to help ya.

airdog
OK, here are the log files.I made 2 disks with nLite 0.99.7 and 2 with nLite 1.0 beta 6Everything is automated and seems fine now except that when the installation is done Windows starts with a default "Administrator" account. What do I need to change in the log file to start Windows with the name that I am prompted to enter during setup? I know it's gotta be something simple....Thanks again! ###################################################### (Disk 1) #########; Generated by nLite 0.99.7 beta;[Data] MsDosInitiated = 0 UnattendedInstall = Yes[unattended] UnattendMode = FullUnattended UnattendSwitch = No OemPreinstall = Yes OemSkipEula = Yes FileSystem = * WaitForReboot = No NoWaitAfterTextMode = 1 NoWaitAfterGUIMode = 1 TargetPath = "Windows" DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore NonDriverSigningPolicy = Ignore Hibernation = No[GuiUnattended] TimeZone = 20 OEMSkipRegional = 1 OemSkipWelcome = 1[userData] ProductKey = "XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX"[RegionalSettings] Language = 0409[identification] JoinWorkgroup = "WORKGROUP"###################################################### (Disk 2) #########; Generated by nLite 1.0 beta 6[Data]Autopartition = 0MsDosInitiated = 0UnattendedInstall = Yes[unattended]UnattendMode = FullUnattendedUnattendSwitch = YesOemPreinstall = YesOemSkipEula = YesFileSystem = *WaitForReboot = NoNoWaitAfterTextMode = 1NoWaitAfterGUIMode = 1TargetPath = WINDOWSDriverSigningPolicy = IgnoreNonDriverSigningPolicy = Ignore[GuiUnattended]AdminPassword = *TimeZone = 020OEMSkipRegional = 1OemSkipWelcome = 1[Components][userData]ProductKey = "XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX" ComputerName = *FullName = *[RegionalSettings]Language = 0409[Networking]InstallDefaultComponents = Yes[identification]JoinWorkgroup = WORKGROUP###################################################### (Disk 3) #########; Generated by nLite 1.0 beta 6[Data]Autopartition = 0MsDosInitiated = 0UnattendedInstall = Yes[unattended]UnattendMode = FullUnattendedUnattendSwitch = NoOemPreinstall = YesOemSkipEula = YesFileSystem = *WaitForReboot = NoNoWaitAfterTextMode = 1NoWaitAfterGUIMode = 1TargetPath = WINDOWSDriverSigningPolicy = IgnoreNonDriverSigningPolicy = IgnoreHibernation = No[GuiUnattended]AdminPassword = *TimeZone = 020OEMSkipRegional = 1OemSkipWelcome = 1[Components][userData]ProductKey = "XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX" ComputerName = *FullName = *[RegionalSettings]Language = 0409[Networking]InstallDefaultComponents = Yes[identification]JoinWorkgroup = WORKGROUP###################################################### (Disk 4) #########; Generated by nLite 1.0 beta 6[Data]Autopartition = 0MsDosInitiated = 0UnattendedInstall = Yes[unattended]UnattendMode = GuiAttendedUnattendSwitch = YesOemPreinstall = YesOemSkipEula = YesComputerType = "Standard PC", RetailFileSystem = *WaitForReboot = NoNoWaitAfterTextMode = 1NoWaitAfterGUIMode = 1TargetPath = WINDOWSDriverSigningPolicy = IgnoreNonDriverSigningPolicy = Ignore[GuiUnattended]TimeZone = 020OEMSkipRegional = 1OemSkipWelcome = 1[Components][userData]ProductKey = "XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX"[RegionalSettings]Language = 0409[Networking]InstallDefaultComponents = Yes[identification]JoinWorkgroup = MSHome#####################################################
airdog
Well, for what it's worth. I did also notice that the new Unattended Install CD's that I have made no longer go to the screen at the beginning promting me to setup up an Internet and/or Network connections as well as the Windows Tour. Is there an easy way to re-enable those options? Edited September 8, 2005 by airdog
