jpa Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 I had a problem that said \windows\system32\config\system ...was corrupt - is it possible to run the restore (rstrui.exe) from the DOS prompt or does anyone know how I can get to the COMMAND line ...thanks in advance
chilifrei64 Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 System restore cannot be run from the command line.. (the program can be started from there but not actually ran from there with switches)http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...;304449&sd=techif you are using XP.. here is the MS Knowledgebase articlehttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...B;EN-US;Q307545Otherwise, run a repair installation.. this should fix your problem
hoangtbhp Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 you should use RECOVERY CONSOLE to repair your system
aspenjim Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 This usually happens when xp crashes do to overclocking, etc. I've fixed many pc with this exact same problem by using the recovery console and running chkdsk c: /p /r or using hiren's boot cd 7.0 and running chkdsk c: /f /r
