SoreGums Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 So I want my Docs & Settings to be on a specific partition, in this case d:, during the use of a windows install the partitions get moved around so that when I go to install again D: is no longer D:.....So is it possible to use some sort of Device ID /Unique ID instead of a random drive letter that keeps changing? Thanks
Doc Symbiosis Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 You could use a bacthfile with diskpart to reassign the letter D to the partition. diskpart uses IDs which only depend on the location on the HDD, so partition 1 is the primary and partition 3,4,5.. are the first, second, third,... logical partition.
dragev Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 You could use a [batch file] with diskpart to reassign the letter D to the partition.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Where and when (cmdlines.txt, RunOnceEx, etc.?) can you use diskpart during an unattended install? In the WINNT.SIF file, I'm guessing that I need to add the following line in the [GuiUnattended] section: ProfilesDir="P:\Profiles"But, when does this ProfilesDir become a part of the system? And can I run diskpart to assign the drive letter before Windows creates ProfilesDir?
