mydssbin Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Need to do:I want to have two server that are identical to each other, the only difference being one is server is slower then the other. If one server fails I want to automatically switch to the identical backup server. Is there any software that someone can suggest? Thanks
InTheWayBoy Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Depends on what the server is doing...AD, FTP, File Server, HTTP, etc...more info I think is needed.
mydssbin Posted August 29, 2005 Author Posted August 29, 2005 I am new to this; so bare with me.It is a windows 2003 server. I am guessing it should not matter what application the server is running. If one server dies that the other one takes over operations. PS i will have a file and web server. Thanks
chilifrei64 Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Sounds like somebody likes VMWare... Care to elaborateI have used a produce called Doubletake.. I have it implemented at one of my clients and I have been pretty satisfied. Luckily none of my servers have gone down so that is about all I know.. But when testing.. I pulled the plug on my live server and I was down for about 5 min until the other picked up ... but when it picked up.. it ran as expected. We replicated multiple servers to a single server running doubletake across an internet connetion about 8 miles down the road. Exchange, MSSQL and Pervasive SQL.
