crispy_chip Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 XP prof w SP2 not exactly legit. Installed 2 months now. Athlon 2600+ on Asus 8nx7 delux MB. Nvidia g 440 graphics. Dual boot OS (XO+win98) 2 HD well partitioned.Boot into 98 OK. XP boot3sec to run Bios6sec to run windows XP blue scroll screen5MINUTES Black/grey screen ... yes 5 minutes1 minute welcome screen1 minute from wallpaper to curser ready state.5 minutes between XP scroll and welcome screen .. must be a world record. So please help:What is happening during the black screen boot time?I have removed all virus threats, worms etc and Defragged OS drives. Removed any surplus installed software. What can I do to prevent this huge delay? Can I monitor what goes on within PC during the different bootphases?Please please help, I cannot bear another OS install.Regards
ripken204 Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 well when was the last time that you reinstalled xp? google for bootvis and find a guide for it too. it should help alot, also go to run and type in msconfig, then look at the startup programs and uncheck the ones that you dont need.
