well you could just hide it, or you could edit it with regtuner and delete the icon and it wont appear but may cause some instability with the program

Which program is that? Maybe it has a "hide icon" option and you haven't found it.

If you are using WindowsXP, then right click on the bottom task bar, select properties, then customize (down the bottom).

Scroll down to the program you want to hide, click the down arrow in behaviours and select - always hide.

Permanently removing entries from registry can only be done using regedit or uninstalling the program that installed them.

WORD OF CAUTION: Regedit is a powerful tool and if used wrong can cause your system to become unstable or possibly cause it not to boot.

To start regedit go to Start-->Run. Type in regedit and hit enter

To remove the entries that start in the registry you should remove the appropriate SUB KEYS in the following registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runonce

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runonce-

WARNING: DO NOT DELETE THESE KEYS!! Find the sub keys at these keys and delete those. For example you would delete the key

Quicktime Task

that had the value

"C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
