I cannot find the following on the WIN98SE2ME website. Did I miss it, or is it missing?

Add ZIP-compression from Win ME to Win 9x or 2k

You need the following files from Win ME: DZIP32.DLL, DUNZIP32.DLL and ZIPFLDR.DLL. Copy to %windir%\system and register the last of these DLLs with regsvr32 zipfldr.dll.

ZIPFLDR.DLL for WinME or the 1 for Plus! 98 [both install same functions] can be installed on 98FE/98SE even without Plus! 98 pack:

Install PowerArchiver [nag shareware]:

Extract the files from the EXE [see link above].

Copy ZIPFLDR.DLL, DZIP32.DLL + DUNZIP32.DLL to %windir%\SYSTEM [usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM].

Then run from a DOS box:

%windir%\SYSTEM\REGSVR32 /S %windir%\SYSTEM\ZIPFLDR.DLL

Done.

How to install Fixed ZIPFLDR.DLL on Windows 98/98 SP1/98 SE without MS Plus!

1. Copy + paste text between cut & paste lines below in Notepad -> save as

ZIPFLDR.REG (example) -> (double)-click on ZIPFLDR.REG to merge into

FYI:

Please note that zipfldr.dll adds only basic [very primitive] ZIPping/unZIPping functions.

reason why this registry entry is required is because the Q329048 Win98/Plus98 patch detects this. If the registry entry doesn't exist or has a different value the patch will not work. If it is there then the patch will install the updated files.

plus if you already have a ZIPping/UNZIPping utility (freeware or shareware) like Winzip or InfoZip, you do not need the ZIP-compression feature from MS [in Microsoft-speak, MS calls it the Compressed Folders feature].
