surcix Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 here's another idea that someone posted on this forum:1. make a backup dir in the C:\WINNT\system32\CatRoot dir where all of the KBXXX.cat files are2. copy all of the KBXXX.cat files to that dir3. delete all of the KBXXX.cat files4. run the updates to xp.hope it helps
humble3d Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Many thanks for your suggestions, but i have toshiba tecra laptop, and i am unable to make an ua cd- as all i have is a restore cd from toshiba.mmm - not sure what to do know? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>My Toshiba, not that different from yours, allows to fully reinstall your os...Insert your cd and explore; then, after reinstall, update your drivers at the new toshiba support site...make copies of the drivers, too --as you may need them later the next time you decide it's time to reinstall...
ner Posted August 22, 2005 Author Posted August 22, 2005 Well after re-installing my system, and reinstalling everything i had the same issue, and now i found what the problem was it was the .NET framework install pack i down loaded from ryans web site. I uninstalled it and downloaded the files form microsoft and installed and now all works ok.
