Wai_Wai
CounterSpy... Detect 2 more spyware than others?!?Hi.I have downloaded CounterSpy as a trial test since it is said it can detect the newest and dangerous keylogger (Srv.SSA-KeyLogger).Having a full scan, I didn't find this dangerous keylogger ( ). Instead it managed to find 2 insidious spyware.1) AB System SpyFile Name & Location: C:\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSBin\ijl15.dllC:\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 University\TSBin\ijl15.dllSize: 344 KB2) Ace Password Sniffer 1.1File Name & Location:C:\Program Files\WinPcap\NetMonInstaller.exeC:\Program Files\WinPcap\rpcapd.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\npf.sysSize (in ascending order): - 06.50 KB- 84.00 KB- 32.10 KBAt first sight, CounterSpy looked great. It detected 2 more spyware which others like MS Anti-spyware and ZoneAlarm couldn't.However think twice, it seemed to be false positives/claims.I need confirmation. Can anyone confirm if they are spyware?Or does anyone know how to confirm
dman
Yes, those look like false positives. There are a number of sites that give info on dlls and exes if you just google them, like the first is a jpg compression libhttp://www.liutilities.com/products/wintas...llibrary/ijl15/this is easy to confirm, just look on sims install disk.and the other is part of popcap games. (marginally adware) Edited August 11, 2005 by dman
Jito463
Plus, CounterSpy is just a licensed clone of Giant Anti-Spyware, which as I'm sure you all know is now MS Anti-Spyware. I've also seen MS Anti-Spyware pick up wierd things like that, so I think it's just a bug in the Giant code. If you're going to use it though, might as well get the free MS one, since CounterSpy is a pay-for program.
