gamehead200 Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 OK, so I was installing an old hard drive into my aunt's computer and this is what I the wires looked like after installing it:------[CD-ROM](Secondary Master)||------[OLD HD] (Secondary Slave)||[MOBO]------[XP HD](Primary Master)||------[AVAILABLE IDE CABLE] (Primary Slave)||[MOBO]Can someone tell me why it didn't work this way? After switching where the OLD HD to the AVAILABLE IDE CABLE, it worked...

zipp51 Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 You can't run a hard drive off of a cd rom as a slave or otherwise.HD to HD primary master to secondary master.Cd Rom secondary master to CdRw(or cdrom)secondary slave.
gamehead200 Posted February 16, 2003 Author Posted February 16, 2003 After eating supper the other night, that's what I thought the problem was, after about an hour of trying to figure out why it wasn't working...I had to re-arrange the order of the HDs in the case since I had to have the slave on top of the master for it to be connected properly...
