Aaron_ Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 I'm considering upgrading my graphic card.Ati Radeon 9600XT -> 125€ ~ 153$Ati X700 (non-XT) -> 135€ ~ 166$nvidia 6600 (non-GT) -> 145€ ~ 178$They're all AGP and 256mb ram.Links to comparisons are welcome.Show me your thoughts please.
JuMz Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 My opinion,9600xt completely out of the question in comparison to the other cards.According to these charts (and because I am an ATI fan) I would go with the X700. Check out this websitehttp://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/2..._charts-02.html
Aaron_ Posted August 8, 2005 Author Posted August 8, 2005 Thx JuMz, I was confused about 9600XT and x700 having so close prices.I am an Nvidia fan but if x700 is better than 6600 I will change team.

The reason I say the 9600xt doesn't compare is because its an older series of cards, based on a different GPU core than the x700, 800 etc. The 9600xt was more in the line of the 9700, 9800 etc. The x700 has a newer GPU, and have a lil more advanced architecture and technology built into it (because it is newer).If you look at the rest of tomshardware VGA charts, you will find a chart that has the 9600xt in it. You can decide for yourself.http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/2..._charts-14.html Edited August 8, 2005 by JuMz
Aaron_ Posted August 8, 2005 Author Posted August 8, 2005 Well, the fight is 6600 vs x700.@JuMz:In your link there are a lot of games where x700 kicks 6600, but there are a few where it even kicks 6800.Very impressive.

Where the 6800 starts to differentiate itself is when the resolution is higher and AA & ASF are enabled. Edited August 8, 2005 by JuMz
