hi guys,

i have network with more than one switch

first switch connect 14 PC's , ADSL router and 2nd awitch

2nd one connect 13 PC's , 1st switch and 3rd one

3rd one connect 4 PC's and the 2nd one

my prob. is with the third one you must know that it's distance is 140 M away from 2nd one, the 4th cable is not work (ground) , it was work well until 2 weeks ago it is not connect it's PC's and not sharing ADSL line.

when i use cable tester all lines is OK.

the magic part in that story that the 3rd switch is not connected all time its was disconnected all night ONLY?????

How is the 3rd switch attached to the 2nd? with Fibre i assume?

Ok, cat5 cable has a maximum length of 100M (well, just under) so that would be why you are having trouble. Degradation occurs after 100M so this would explain the unusual behaviour.

You'll need a repeater or a repeating device to extend the range. Or move the 3rd switch within 100M of the 2nd.

but it was very good before short time

and cat5e can connect upto 150 M and more depend on its type(or company).

why my prob is all night only?

Degradation occurs after 100M so this would explain the unusual behaviour.

I would try moving the 3rd switch within 100M of the 2nd (or place a repeating device about half way between), this way you can test to see if it still has problems at night.

If the problems still occur then you will know it is not the cabling between the two points. (process of elimination)
