Network Drives Not Working

its an xp pro box (sp1a) that is suppossed to run a logon script as it logs on the domain(win2k). the script maps 3 network drives (h:, s:, and L:). at first i thougt it wasnt running the logon script. but i tried the same account on a different computer (another xp pro box), all three network drives are there and working. so i try a different account on the originall computer. same thing. no network drives. run ipconfig, its getting its ip from the server, everything looks right, and it can ping the server. so i try manually mapping them. errors out, network path cannot be found. try doing it from a command line, same thing.

so it can physically contact the server, but for some reason it wont actually find what its looking for.

any ideas? thanks.

Here's a few things you can try:

-Try if it'll find it by searching for its name

-Try re-running the connection wizzard (Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Connections>Setup...)

-Try to ping the remote machine, maybe you're getting blocked my a 3rd party firewall or the XP one..

havent tried that yet, but i doubt it'll work... i tried browsing thru network neighborhood, it sees the domain (only because thats the domain it belongs to), but when you click on it.... nothing.

havent tried this... but the physical aspect of the connection works fine. it pings loopback, its own ip, and any other ip on the network.

it pings the server (as i said in my 1st post :) ) ,as well as being able to ping every other resource on the network. the xp firewall is disabled. i also connected the problem box in another location just to rule out a line problem.

just a recap...

machine sees the server, it getting an ip from it. but i cant connect to any other network resources. it just keeps returning network path not found, even when i try to doing an administrative share to the servers c: . try logging on using different accounts; same thing. all of the accounts i tried work fine on other machines. funny thing is it worked fine yesterday. no changes since.

ms client for networks is installed, and the tcp/ip properties are all set to auto. domain name is correct also.

this is rather annoying. plug it into the network, still cant map a network drive, nor connect to the server but......

the same server is running exchange 2000, and outlook does recieve new email on the funky box. wth?

servers fqdn is: bmlabs_main.b-mlabs.local

trying to map h:, which is a home folder, as \\bmlabs_main\username$ , network path not found

try adding a network place \\bmlabs_main\d$, same thing.

man is this infuriating.
