satya_gen Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 My conf:----------------------------------------------------AMD-64 3000+ (939 socket)MSI RS480M2-IL motherboard.512 MB - Single DDR Transend RAM 400 FSB (PC 3200)80GB - Seagate SATA Hard diskOS- Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2---------------------------------------------------------------------I have bought a new system with above config.Till now with in one month, I formated my Hard Disk upto 5 times.Because i have poblems with XP and Service packs. Now only i got good XP.I did the following things, pls tell me is it good or not?I installed XP prof. with SP2(Ver.2149)After that I removed SP2 old only(not format my HD) and I installed latest SP2(Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers)My question is,Is there any chances to damege the windows XP now?Can i continue with this, or I have to format my C: drive and install need fresh XP and SP2And my next question is,How many times we can format our new Hard Disk....?Please tell some suggestions...
boooggy Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 (edited) slipstream sp2, postsp2 hotfixes, drivers and remove bloat into xpcd usin' nlite. u can format many times. usually somthing like few tenths thousand times.... Edited August 3, 2005 by boooggy
Clint Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 (edited) Well, if you ask MS you should be alright...but I wouldn't actually.There has been issues with sp2 in the past...it's just doesnt feel right to me. oneless Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 you can format/install windows unlimited .its just about your harddisk life here.i use quick format . i test a lot of stuff on my computerso once a month i really need a fresh install .
