imgolo Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I am planing to set up a basic home network, planning to put all the storage within the server, and not planing to install any hard drive in the client PCs, is this possible and what I need to get(hardware, software). I have copy of W2K server & pro. These computers are going to run one program only. I know I have to set the client computers to boot from LAN, and is there anything else I need to do? please help!
chilifrei64 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Yes there is much more that you need.. I would suggest doing some reading up on Windows Networking. For starters.. you will need to use hard drives in your client PC's unless you are talking about doing LIVE CD's or Thin Clients and Terminal Services which in this case it would not be W2K networking. And as for booting to the LAN, this is only necessary when deploying operating systems. I would start with this article to get a better idea as to which way you are thinking of goinghttp://www.pcworld.com/howto/article/0,aid,102461,00.asp
