Duplicate Files only stored once

I understand that and how there is an option with some ISO complication software such as UltraISO and mkisofs where you can have an option to only have the actual data written once to the drive/disk even though there are more than one copy of the file present on the media.

My question is does such an option exsist for a normal FS such as NTFS? I have an external USB drive with many copys of the same file (dont ask why I just do) and dont want to take up twice as much of the space for each file/data!

I use winxp and 2003 most the time. I know that 2003/RIS has such an option know as SIS Groveler (Single Instance Storage Groveler) It would be nice to have this if it does not already exsit for a normal everyday FS function.
