July 27, 200521 yr Hi, I tried to install Win XP and was unsuccessful during the setup stage. I installed Me back onto the computer but I think Win XP setup is on another partition. Everytime I boot up my computer I go directly into XP setup error unless I press ESC and choose Me. How can I get rid of this? I tried deleting a bunch of files in windows that I don't think I've ever seen with ME before.I don't want to reformat because it is a real pain. I have a Dell L800r and I don't have the drivers necessary on hand. Can somebody please help me out?
July 27, 200521 yr Did you install WinMe on the same partition as WinXP? or did you install it on a FAT32 File System?
July 27, 200521 yr I tried deleting a bunch of files in windows that I don't think I've ever seen with ME before.I think one of those files is boot.ini. It is a text file. I think you must just change something in it as to boot on the ME partition by default. I don't know the exact syntax that must be used but if you google a bit you for dual booting 9x and XP you should find it quite easily.
