Orsi
hey ho, I've read all topics about how to include an Visual Style and make it the default theme, them I built a VS (using StyleBuilder) and followed all the the procedures I've found (one by one, of course ) and everytime I install XP (via VMWare) I see it using the Windows classic theme...what could be going wrong?PS- I haven't added any registry tweaks concerning VSPPS- the theme XP uses is correct, the sound scheme, icons and pointers are right, except the VS. TheeBeets
Ok for starters there is many posts in this forum concerning these Issues but I'll help all I can.Winnt.sif[shell] CustomDefaultThemeFile = "%WinDir%\Resources\Themes\Longhornish.theme"Make sure that your theme is located in XPCD\$OEM$\$$\Resources\Themes and that the theme itself is correct. You also need to go into wordpad and copy and paste these contents and edit for your theme.[Theme]; Recycle Bin[CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\DefaultIcon]full=%SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32\shell32.dll,32empty=%SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32\shell32.dll,31[Control Panel\Desktop]Wallpaper=%ResourceDir%\Themes\FolderName\WallpaperImage.bmpTileWallpaper=0WallpaperStyle=2Pattern=ScreenSaveActive=0[VisualStyles]Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\Longhornish\Yourtheme.msstylesColorStyle=NormalColorSize=NormalSizeCheck that in nLite you didnt tell it to use Windows Classic theme and make sure with nLite you replaced uxtheme.dll Edited July 27, 2005 by TheeBeets
oioldman
Also, some vmware/virtulapc will only use standard vga until you apply the tools to it to fully utilise the graphics card.If you were to build on a real pc, you'll find it may well work.As stated by TheBeets, that is how i apply my theme and it works a charm. Orsi
I just rebuilt the whole DVD but I haven't used nLite (got the uxtheme.dll from the Unattended website), although everything happened again... the icons, cursors and sounds are from the theme I built, but not the Visual Style...I really don't know what could be going wrong since it works perfectly when I use this with StyleXPCan someone tell (or indicate somewhere) what are the files a VS must contain? Are they just the .theme, .msstyle and shellstyle.dll? Alanoll
after reinstall your windows xp ,musssst crack the uxtheme.dll at the first and disabled the WFP!so i think your vs will be work, because u run it use style xp perfectly .<{POST_SNAPBACK}>you missed what he did with his UXtheme.dll which makes YOUR method obsolete. Now assuming you're not installing a hotfix that overwrites the UXtheme.dll file, i would suggest...http://unattended.msfn.org/advanced/hackedfiles/uxtheme.htmNow as far as helping you, we can't do ANYTHING except suggest things that might go wrong. From what you've said, i could assume any number of thigns ranging from invalid UXtheme.dll to a typo in the .theme file. Without YOU showing us (attaching the .theme and perhaps even the .msstyle) we can't accurately tell you what's wrong.
