pcandpc Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 Hello?I'm using WinXP-Home, and I just downloaded Windows securityupdates and completed the install. The system's asking me to reboot, but I'm in the middle of runningan application that I want to keep it in its running state. If I reboot, that running application will not come back to its running state and I'm concerned about it.So, is there a way that I can reboot the system and come back tothe present desktop setting with any running applications still running? Thanks.
firefoxthebomb Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I do not think so, you can alway reboot later after the running program gets done and you can afford a reboot.
pcandpc Posted July 13, 2005 Author Posted July 13, 2005 Hi firefoxthebomb and chilifrei64,Thanks for your feebacks. Well, actually, I've been post-poning the reboot by keep clicking on the "reboot later"button when the warning message had popped. But, Iended up rebooting after coming back from a hybernatedstate as the IE browser was acting weirdly
suryad Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 MS is weird about having to reboot....almost everytime you install something. Something about Linux that always got to me was that I could reinstalling drivers, updating software, recompiling the gosh darn kernel and it would maybe ask to reboot once...if that.
Martin Zugec Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 2Suryad: It is because PFR concept. However it is sometimes great - for example in corporations you need 2 restart to fully patch system including office etc.. (first for agent, second are hotfixes)
