Drk_Lrd Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Hi everyone!I have a BIG problem.....Here's the story:I want to broadcast something online so I got Windows Media Encoder.I read the help and it said I have to make an announcement to create broadcasts...then it told me that I need to use a wizard ok.... To access the wizard I need to make a session using PUSH to another server. Now it tells me that I have to use a Windows Media Server. Ok now i was assuming it was a web site with a embed player...... I Pushed it to my server and they said it could not connect (it had some errors.) I went back to help. it said I need a Protcool plugin enabled on my server. And how the **** do I do that??? And what is a protcool plugin anyway?Someone Plz Help!!! I'm Desprite!!!!!
Electrician Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 I have a BIG problem.....I want to broadcast so I got Windows Media Encoder. That created your content ok?1) Assuming you are NOT doing this on a LAN... something onlineSo you want to do a multicast ? and now you need the OTHER half, which isWindows Media Server, is it running on the same machine or a remote machine?I Pushed it to my server and they said it could not connect (it had some errors.)The server reported errors, the Encoder had errors, or both?I went back to help. it said I need a Protcool plugin enabled on my server. And how the **** do I do that??? And what is a protcool plugin anywayA Plugin is a chunk of code that tells another program how to do something, thisallows for programs to do things that the program designers hadn't forseen. In this case, the Protocol Plugin, is used to tell Media Services how the content is packaged and what protocol (http, RTSP,etc) to use between the two machinesMSoft site says to see the Media Services Help file (but you are doing that already)btwMy only experience is with using Realmedia Encoders to send info to an account on a corporate server. Had to do that a couple of times. So I am really shooting in the dark.
Drk_Lrd Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 you can see the error on my attachment. I have a server On the same machine but how do I make it a Windows Media Server?
chilifrei64 Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Go to add or remove components and choose to install Windows Media Services. Once you are done make sure it is startedOn WME type in the servername + port number in the Server Name
Drk_Lrd Posted July 10, 2005 Author Posted July 10, 2005 I need to tell you a little something... I use Windows 2000 Pro and when i went to add remove conponents it didn't have Windows Media Service..... So I was thinking if I needed Windows XP or Windows 2000 Server Or Advanced Server?
