July 8, 200521 yr It's an IBM... have you checked the Keyboard and Mouse settings (the IBM ones) to see if the "Fn" key is on by default? It sounds to me like you're getting the "numpad" enabled on your keyboard laptop (look for blue numbers on the keys).
July 8, 200521 yr IBM does pretty much everything themselves. They only rely on Windows to interface with software - anything hardware setting related is taken care of by their drivers and software. My guess is that somewhere an IBM setting was changed to lock the Fn key down.
July 8, 200521 yr I know, I own a Thinkpad R40, but that isn't the point. The point is that perhaps, he did some registry tweaks himself or changed the installation perhaps. How should I know? That's why I ask.EDIT: What softwares do IBM install allowing you to change settings for your computer, yogiva? Edited July 8, 200521 yr by Marthax
July 9, 200521 yr Start with what Zxian says:IBM KB see #2.And also what Marthax says.M/T and model would help. Below link will help find this info: Find M/T and Model and Serial #
July 9, 200521 yr Is this the first time that you are experiencing these problems, yogiva? You gotta fill us in with some details. That way it's easier to help you.
July 9, 200521 yr Hi,sounds like you have enabled the numpad on your ThinkPads Keyboard. Normally you can enable/disable this behavior by pressing Fn-Num or a similar key combination. check your manual on how to do this on your model.Do you have any special applications running when logging in with the user who has this problem? I have the same problem for example when starting the NetOp Remote Access Software on my laptop.Bye, Egon Edited July 9, 200521 yr by egrath
