Marthax Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Hi Guys!I use these parameters when installing XP with my UA cd:[Shell] DefaultStartPanelOff = Yes DefaultThemesOff = YesThe Default Themes setting is working just fine however, when I use the DefaultStartPanelOff = Yes, it's not applied as the new start panel is showed with an classic theme. What to do?Regards,Marthax
Doc Symbiosis Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Works fine for me with these two settings. Really have no idea, what's wrong.
Marthax Posted July 8, 2005 Author Posted July 8, 2005 (edited) Have you modified your Windows with nLite?EDIT: Ok, I copied a fresh piece of I386 into my XPCD and tried it out just to be sure that it wasn't my removing with nLite that has screwed it up and it turned out not to be it. I still can't make it work. I think I'll just leave this one behind as it drives me nuts and it's not that hard to configure. Although, I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me solve this mystery. Edited July 8, 2005 by Marthax
Marthax Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 (edited) I figured it out! The reason that my classic start-menu wasn't applied was because of this registry tweak:; Disable Recycle Bin Delete Confirmation[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]"ShellState"=hex:24,00,00,00,37,a8,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\ 01,00,00,00,0d,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,02,00,00,00I don't know why, but it doesn't only remove the delete confirmation dialog, but it also resets the start-menu and sets it to the new one. Anyway to work around this?EDIT: I tried to install Windows without that reg setting and the result is still the same . What can it be?! This drives me nuts. Edited July 9, 2005 by Marthax
Marthax Posted July 12, 2005 Author Posted July 12, 2005 (edited) Ok, somehow I managed to fix my problem by an accident and I thought that if I reported this back to you guys, you could help me figure it out. I cleaned up my UA installation and removed a couple of things. The only thing that could have something to do with my problem was that I removed the "Set program and access defauls" & "Windows Catalog" shortcuts in the start-menu. I also created a new account and added it to the administrators group using the WISCON program created by bryanh. When my Windows booted up the first time and I clicked on Start, the Classic Menu appeared all of a sudden. Could one of these things have been the solution to my problem? It just doesn't sound right. What do you guys think?Of course, I'm happy , but it just seems weird. Edited July 12, 2005 by Marthax
