grindy
I'm able to ping anywhere I try, but always get the cann'd "can't get page" (or 704 or whatever that page is when you're offline or the page is bad) when I try to go anywhere in IE.So, ping is good, IE won't go.Any suggestions?thx
Zxian
Do other programs have any problems connecting to the internet?Have you checked your system for spyware/viruses?Did this happen after you installed/uninstalled a program or changed a setting? The more info you can give us, the better we can help. Electrician
When you ping (good) is it by name or IP address?if IP is good but name is not, then you might have a DNS issue.if ping by name works then it is likely just an IE setting.Check any proxy or firewall settings you have set on your network connection. If you connect to your cable/DSL modem via ethernet, then:In IE, check Tools | Options | Connections | LAN Settings andCheck to Automatically detect. Jito463
I'm not sure where this originally came from, but it's saved me from formatting a customers computer many a times. It resets the Winsock values in 2000/XP. That sounds like your problem.http://rockent.brinkster.net/Files/WinsockXPFix.exe
