IE bad, ping good. Sup with dat?

Featured Replies

I'm able to ping anywhere I try, but always get the cann'd "can't get page" (or 704 or whatever that page is when you're offline or the page is bad) when I try to go anywhere in IE.

So, ping is good, IE won't go.

Any suggestions?

thx

Do other programs have any problems connecting to the internet?

Have you checked your system for spyware/viruses?

Did this happen after you installed/uninstalled a program or changed a setting?

The more info you can give us, the better we can help.

When you ping (good) is it by name or IP address?

if IP is good but name is not, then you might have a DNS issue.

if ping by name works then it is likely just an IE setting.

Check any proxy or firewall settings you have set on your network connection.

If you connect to your cable/DSL modem via ethernet, then:

In IE, check Tools | Options | Connections | LAN Settings and

Check to Automatically detect.
