IMHO

Scroll Lock is useless - you can use it in office stop, it will "lock" your position and scroll the page instead of moving to next cell.

Break/Pause is break/pause :) It is for stopping procedures, similar to ctrl+c

the Scroll Lock, Pause, Break really serve no purpose any more.

the scroll lock key was for being able to scroll text on old computers using the arrow keys. and as Martin said it serves a purpose in Excel.

I hit the Scroll lock key pretty much daily, My use for it is I have a box that connects 2 computers with 1 keyboard, 1 mouse, and 1 monitor. hitting scroll lock twice on my computer switches between the 2 computers.

Pause and Break was for pausing scrolling Text in DOS. and is usually used now in games as well... a pause button lol.

the one key that i've always wondered about was the SysRq under Print Screen.

Pause allows me to see the BIOS output before it vanishes.

SysRq is used by some console apps under *nix and non-MS DOS (TSRs or daemons)

2Biohazard: I can see I am not the only one who is using scrolllock to switch between servers :)

About SysRq, Delprat is right, I remember in DOS I used it to print (really print, not to screen) system configuration. That is why it is under Print Screen :)
