What's wrong with it?

Everythime I click on windows update it goes to: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/thanks.asp?

Where it says:

Thank you for your interest in Windows Update

Windows Update is the online extension of Windows that helps you get the most out of your computer.

You must be running a Microsoft Windows operating system in order to use Windows Update.

I have to say the other day when I clicked on WU it went to the same page, but in the system tray appeared an icon similar with that of WinXP Security center and when I clicked on it, it installed some hotfixes.

What's up with that?

I did, but it keeps going to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/thanks.asp

I'm affraid not to miss any critical patches issued by Microsoft. I hope I don't.

hm delete temporary internet files

in internetoption load the default settings from advanced tab

and maybe run ms antispyware or whatever u use

First it goes to this address:

http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us

then it's redirected to the one mentioned above.

I scanned my PC with Spybot S&D, MS Antispyware, Ad-Aware SE Pro and found nothing.

P.S. It seems that v6 of WU is beta and that's why I get redirected to v4.

Are you using a firewall with browser masking? I remember having this problem with Sygate.

Windows Update needs to know that you're using IE and a Windows-based machine.

You might have to activate Windows 2003 first.

Does this work for you?
