grafx1 Posted June 16, 2005 Share Posted June 16, 2005 we have a lan and sharing ADSL (we all connected to switch and a router is connected to that switch)i made the ip address obtained automatic, but suddenly today my pc failed toobtain ip automatic, and then i choose another ip address, and it works...what's the reason?i think this happen when there is a specific user online !!! (That's the service that provides your PC with an IP address automatically.) Most commercially avaible router/switch combinations have a DHCP service feature included, so that might be a good place to start.Once you determine that, you can examine the settings on the service to ensure that they suit the needs of your LAN.What it sounds like to me is that, rather than a configuration problem, the DHCP service was turned off for some reason when you booted your PC so you were unable to obtain an IP address automatically.Hope this helps.
