HighterDK Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 I' have been reading about Avalon all around , but what does it do? I know it is the technology responsible for all the eye-candy in longhorn, but what does the current Avalon for XP do? Is it supposed to be developers only or there is another use to it?
ripken204 Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 i think its to make it look good too, it will give us a preview of longhorn to make us want to buy it
Clint Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Yup, I tried it in combo with minilogon...thought it would save me some resources...but not!Nice to look at but pulls more resources than ur regular XP shell..taken that you have got rid of all those gayinsh XP themes/effects crap.
HighterDK Posted June 15, 2005 Author Posted June 15, 2005 So, if I have 1GB of memory and not much use for it, would it be worth installing Avalon? Can I unninstal it later? Is it stable ot does it crash a lot?

HighterDK Posted June 16, 2005 Author Posted June 16, 2005 Uh, ok, I installed Avalon, Indigo, etc. Now what? I don't see any changes. It didn't even prompt me to reboot.
EchoNoise Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Any screenshots on what it looks like?? :SBefore/After screenshots might be handy
HighterDK Posted June 16, 2005 Author Posted June 16, 2005 It still looks the same. I reboot, looked around control panel, themes, etc. There is nothing new...
EchoNoise Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Me thinks its just a development SDK or something...Or you need a program that was developed using Avalon/Indigo to take control of the new stuff ?!
