clonesauce Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Sooo, the problem with my winamp is that everytime i use it, it plays the songs...but after a while, the program would just stop playing it, like stuck, and i try choosing another song and reopening winamp...but doesn't work, I've even reinstalled it...dont work either....

clonesauce Posted June 1, 2005 Author Posted June 1, 2005 I get around the problem by rebooting it, and I am still able to play music smoothly in other media programs. I don't get any error messages, simply a sound stop.

Are you using the lastest version, 5.092?When you uninstalled it, did you clean out the registry before you reinstalled?Try running other media players as your main player to see if the problem pops up for them. You're able to start listening, but you never said if you listened with other programs for a prolonged period of time.
clonesauce Posted June 1, 2005 Author Posted June 1, 2005 It's only the sound that stops and Winamp shows that it's still playing, I'm using the latest version. With other programs I can listen to songs for a prolonged period of time. And I cleaned out the registry before I reinstalled.

If it's onboard audio, do you have the latest motherboard drivers?It's a very strange problem... the first that I've heard of.EDIT: I'm not sure what nasties you had on your system from the other thread you started, but it's possible that one of them may have messed up a system setting. Reinstalling the drivers may help.

Zxian Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Yeah...I have a 5.8 installer.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>It's a stretch, but maybe you could even try using an old 2.XX release and see how things go. I'm not too sure how similar the programs are in terms of audio rendering and such, but it's worth a shot just to be sure.
