Mozilla Sunbird

As I am very strict on what applications on my are allowed to access the internet I find that Sunbird asks all the time. WHY?

What possible reason could a planner have to access the internet?

Im looking for either a way of finding out myself or if someone knows. I dont like programs getting access to the internet without knowing why, call me paranoid but im just not comfortable with it
