Doing my first unattended CD and I'm starting to test things out...so....

Is it possible to set an auto configuration of the IP address, default gateway, subnet mask and DNS servers via a reg key or some other method?

I tried searching but couldn't find anything. :}

thanks in advance

try downloading the answer file creation utility from microsoft here Use the file setupmgr.exe from the deployment tools to create your winnt.sif.

Now when you create the answere file (winnt.sif) you can choose in the network components section, costom settings, then select internet protocol tcp/ip and press properties, now you can add your ip and sttuff.

@Six6siX - Look for the deployment tools and in particular read the file called ref.chm as you can a lot form it. Also have a look at http://unattended.msfn.org

@trouble - That is much easier

@soulin - The guy said i'm a learner so i think netsh.exe may be a bit beyond it.

Ok, i used the creation utility and made a new winnt.sif file which i shall test. Thanks for all suggestions - i hope it works...

Well the entries in winnt.sif didnt seem to work for the nvidia ethernet - must be something to do with the point at which the drivers are installed for it. i think.... :whistle:

so i read about netsh (suggested by soulin) herehttp://www.petri.co.il/configure_tcp_ip_from_cmd.htm

using the export/import file method during the WPI stage of installation

and im testing now. fingers crossed...
