tarquel
in a word - memory!I'm only thinking of the top of my head here, but wouldn't you need faster speed memory?Also...- does your motherboard support the Sempron 2200+?- have you ensured that you fitted the cpu correctly?- is the hsf rated to work (disperse heat well enough) with a S 2200+?- Did you remove the old interface material and apply some new thermal paste and also, did you remember to attach the fan header?- Was your system "unplugged" when you performed all this and not just "off"?- have you cleared the bios settings with the cmos clear jumper on your motherboard?- have any of the components come loose while you were performing the upgrade? (did the vgs lead come out? hehe )I know alot of these are obvious but sometimes, its the obvious things that are the things you forget to check Regards,Nath. ABEO
Ok first of all thanks for the reply. And yes checked all of those, everything is supported and working etc.Next time I try(probably this evening) I'm gonna have a check through the bios to see if there is anything there that needs changing.Even though I cleared it there could still be a problem I guess. Thanks again! oneless
Sempron work with 166MHz mainboard FSB .Duron with 100 , Athlon 133, barton 166 .your mainboard know about 166 MHz FSB ????! if yes , anyway you must make an update of BIOSbecause sempron is a new processor , a light versionof Athlon MP . mainboards with BIOS date 6 month ago do not know about sempron processor and need be up to date .check the manufacturer site for update . if you do not find there a new update for your processor , replace the mainboard. if no , replace the mainboard . tarquel
Whoops.... I did forget to mention that lolYou'll need to put the old cpu in again tho so that it comes on and then you should be able to update/flash the bios (make sure you get the right update tho from the manufacturers website) and then you should be able to use the new cpu All the best - hope it goes well Nath
ABEO
Ok that'll be the problem then...I have a Gigabye 7-ZXR(rev 1.0), it only supports up to 1Ghz, the sempron must be more than that. There is a BIOS update on their site and their @BIOS tool to flash it with, but it won't work :/
oneless
so(rry) : replace the mainboard . you need a mainboard with 166MHz FSB for your sempron . normally the place where you buy the sempron might to advice you for that !if you buy a new mobo , you can try to change the sempron with a 939pins version with PCI x16 express on video .
