MartinaL Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Is it possible to run a reg tweak that will disable the accessories in the start menu?We are trying to lockdown the computers in our call centre so the users have limited access and this is one of the areas we don't want them to have access to?
systeman Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 I don;t know the exactly way to do this, but you can have a try by finding whether could it be possible to configure it in Group Policy.
Xable Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 you could right click on the accessories folder, select properties and tick the hidden box.
MartinaL Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 Yes but i need to make this change remotely to around 40 pc's
HyperHacker Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 I assume you're a network admin? You could add some commands to a login script to do it, or at least just put them in a batch file on the server (you'd have to manually download it to each system and run it though). You can use attrib +h to hide a folder. Or if you have one of those USB memory sticks that supports autorun, you could use it. Just stick it in and let it do its job.
systeman Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 HeyJust now i have checked the folder again, How about right click on Accesssories, then Properties - Security, delete the restricked user in this area? NICEOr you could contact Deployment team in your business to run script thru Domain to get this
