cache in firefox

Hi all

I have just ran "crap Cleaner" and i have 180 files totaling 50 megs in my firefox dir

C:\Documents and Settings\Nigel\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\o15rv6m2.default\Cache

can anyone tell me what they are for and can o delete them

cache is where browser keeps local copy of web page. if you surf back to same page, browser tries to get it from cache first. makes browsing much faster on dialup. if you have broadband not so much. also lets you view offline cached pages. yes it is safe to delete. they will just come back as you surf unless you turn cache size to zero in options.
