Access denied"I am able to access files on other computers on the network but not one is able to access my computer.any help is greatly appreciated.thx.

Marsden Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Does everyone have the proper permissions to access the shared resource/s?
ironfist241 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 This is assuming you are using a workgroup (decentralized or "peer to peer") arrangement. I also assume youve disabled simple file sharing (explorer > tools >Folder options... > view tab > advanced settings pane > Uncheck the "use simple file sharing" tickbox). Create a local user account on your computer, give it NTFS and share permissions to access the folder(s) you wish to share, then have the other users in your network go to map the folder(s) as network drive(s). During this process they should click the "connect using a different user name" text in the map network drive dialog box - have the network users enter the username and password of the the local user account you created a minute ago.
