How can I make the search results open in a new tab (instead of current tab) when using the google search box in Firefox?

Im using 1.0.3 and remember an extension that did this back in 0.7 days but cant find anything for this.

You can do this from inside the Tabbrowser Preferences extension. Just download it, configure, and enjoy

Ok installed that but it doesnt seem to have options (or at least doesnt let me go in)

Adds a Search button (for use with the Search Bar) to the customize toolbar window. By default left-click opens search results in the current tab and middle-click opens search results in a new tab. To display the Search button, right-click on the toolbar and select Customize..., then drag the button where you want it.

These extensions dont work very well, is there not a way to manually edit the search so the target is a new window/tab?

did you try the extension i posted? I know that works, you will need to change its settings though to open in a new tab (default is current tab).

Just open Tools>Extensions>Search Button and change "left" button or "enter key" to search in new foreground tab. You dont even need the button on the toolbar with the later.

Just tried it, works good. But why is there 2 googles in the menu now?

not really sure why that would happen, but its simple to remove:

1. Go to the installation directory of the application.
   
2. Delete both SRC and GIF/PNG files for each search plugin.
   
3. Restart the application and deleted plugins will disappear.

probably they are google.com and google.co.uk b/c of your localized version.

another possibility are google and google images if you downloaded that search plugin...
