Changing Workgroup Via Batch / Script

Hello,

I have W2K Pro and would like to change the workgroup via a batch file or script, i.e. from workgroup1 to workgroup2. Is that possible?

I believe their is a utility called NETDOM in the Resource Kit that can do this from the command line.

Unfortunately that tool can be only used for domains, but not for workgroups.

I found an answer to this in another forum. It works with netdom.exe from the Resource-Kit of Windows NT4, but not with the Resource-Kit of W2K (and probably XP). To change a workgroup, use this command:

netdom.exe member /joinworkgroup myworkgroup

Replace myworkgroup with your workgroup name. After that you need to logoff.
