Hi, Dism for Windows 7 offers no function to remove components like in Windows 8 or at least I didn't find it. Example for Dism in Windows 8 DISM.exe /Online /Disable-Feature /Featurename:Solitaire /Remove However in Windows 7 you can remove single components via Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features on or off. This starts OptionalFeatures.exe, but I couldn't find any arguments for this exe. With WinToolkit you can for example only remove the whole game group, but not single games. Is there a way to remove components via a command?

Avira Setup Creator - for Avira Antivir Personal v10
kukris replied to cyberyeye's topic in Application Installs
If you want update to Avira Free Antivirus 2013 do the following: Create or get an old unattended package with Avira Setup Creator (avira.exe) Download the current Avira Free Antivirus 2013 offline setup (about 100 MB) from http://www.avira.com Open the downloaded file with 7-Zip and extract it to a folder Open the old unattended package (avira.exe) with 7-Zip Drag the extracted files from the new setup to the open 7-Zip window and overwrite all files It works for me on Windows XP SP3 (32 Bit). I didn't notice any problems so far (scanning folders works). -
I did a new installation and can confirm that KB2779562 is no longer needed when you have KB2794119. At least Windows Update doesn't complain.

Hi, I've downloaded the latest version of SWFLASH.cab from Mim0's site as well from the link provided by jvidal. I've tested both versions and File-Checker gives me this error: ----------------------------------------------------------- Running HFSLIPFC v.2011/05/10 at 27.08.2011 16:30:49,48 ----------------------------------------------------------- Found unexpected version of Adobe Flash Player (HFCABS\SWFLASH.cab) Does anyone else experience that problem?

Thanks for the info.

Thanks jinjou, that worked. I always thought that referencing the contents of a DOS variable was done this way: ECHO PKGINST=%PKGINST% What is the difference with exclamation marks or when do I have to use that? Greets Kukris

Hi everyone, I did a new installation, but Windows update installer package KB898461 (which is present in the HF folder) and several other updates were missing. So I checked the HFSLIP script and found this on line 482: IF EXIST HF\*898461*.exe ( FOR /F %%I IN ('DIR/B/OD HF\*898461*.exe') DO SET PKGINST=%%I ECHO !PKGINST!&MD TEMP&START/WAIT HF\!PKGINST! /Q /X:TEMP ... ) I tested this section with this test: @ECHO ON IF EXIST HF\*898461*.exe ( FOR /F %%I IN ('DIR/B/OD HF\*898461*.exe') DO SET PKGINST=%%I ECHO PKGINST=%PKGINST% ) PAUSE When I run it, I get this output: C:\hfslipWxp>SET PKGINST=WindowsXP-KB898461-x86-DEU.exe PKGINST= The variable PKGINST is set, but in the next line, the contents of the variable is gone. Has anyone a solution for this? I'm using Windows XP Pro SP3 German and checked my source with Mimo's File-Checker.

Hi Mim0, thanks for that handy script and your work. I ran it after each patch day. In the log file I found a wrong text description when it comes for checking User Profile Hive Cleanup (UPHClean-Setup.msi). In hfslipfc.cmd line 929 it says: ECHO Found unexpected version of Roots Certificates ^(!uphcFile!^)>>!logFile! I guess you don't mean rootsupd.exe here. Keep up the good work! Greets Kukris

Hello, I would like to replace the title (word properties) of multiple word documents. There is a tool called Doc Scrubber, that can replace all probperties except author, but I would like to replace author. Is there another tool or script that can do this?
-
I have it disabled, which already helps a bit. I guess, it's because they are kernel-mode drivers. However, I don't have any delays in the command prompt.
-
I have SP4 and all patches installed, so that's not the cause.
-
No, I have all active guards like from antivirus software or spyware programs disabled. Also, the files are not that fragmented.
-
Yes, I tried it. But it requires an administrative Share, which I don't want to do. Besides it has trouble to find the remote computer where shutdown.exe doesn't have any.
-
Whenever I want to browse folders with large files of certain types like cab, it does take a long time until I can access it. Can I turn this behaviour off?
-
I want to shut down a remote computer with the command line tool shutdown.exe. With shutdown -s -f -m \\<IP-adress or computer name) I can shutdown the remote computer, but it won't turn off. The message "You can turn off the computer now" appears. It's not an ACPI problem because when I regulary shut down the computer (Start-->Shutdown) the computer shuts down AND turns off. This also happens to computers with Windows 2000. Computer with Windows XP will shut down and turn off. I also tried shutdown.exe from Windows XP, but that didn't work either. Is there a solution for this or another command line tool?

Hi, I already know .reg Checker from this topic http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=82382. However this nice tool can only handle one file at a time. Is there a tool that can handle multiple files (i. e. scan a folder) and report files with incorrect syntax.

Thanks nakira, that's what I needed

Hi, I'm looking for tool that lists all DLL files of a specific folder (and subfolders) with its version. The Output should be saved as a file. I know the command line tool DLL Lister, but it only lists loaded DLLs. Does anyone know such a tool?

Thanks At0mic, that's the most easiest and Windows-like tool.
