Hi guys,

I was just messing with longhorn 4074. I had downloaded .net framework v2.0.40607 i.e. the beta download available on MS's site for windows XP. I tried to install this on my longhorn installation. It did install properly, but then longhorn didnt boot properly and explorer and other apps would hang and lots lots of problems. So I attached the longhorn registry to my XP's regedit.exe and removed all possible v2.0.40607 and replace them with v2.0.31113 (the one which is default installed in longhorn). Doing this got my longhorn running as it was before. However, now I cannot start ASP.NET service. I tried repairing IIS/ASP.NET registrations, but in vain. The command "aspnet_regiis.exe -r" gives an error in the log file:

Starting Error precompiling web admin tool.

Failure Error precompiling web admin tool.: PrecompileWebAdmin failed with HRESULT 80004005: 'Unspecified error '

Any suggestions? Is there a way in which I can re-install the whole .net framework from the longhorn's CD (or I386 folder)??

Dude, your just going to have to re-install longhorn. Longhorn wasn't meant for what you are trying to do with it at the moment.... It is an alpha after all! :)

Try it on build 5048 - LOL. :P
