Mandrake 10.1

Featured Replies

Hey!

I've downloaded and being meaning to, but now i'm going to install Mandrake 10.1 just wondering if anyone else has tried it?

I have tried to use it for while. I like the idea of using some form of uinx as it is new and different to what I am used to, but I always have a windows machinie running because from my experience you need windows compatibility for one thing or another.

As for mandrake....it was easy to install, picked up all my hardware and easy enough to make it look nice and work well.

My main wory with using it is my lack of knowledge of unix as soon as you get away from the basic's I need to google every minute or two.

I tried to install it with different kernals different options but everytime setup tried to load viaraid.sys and the the promise drivers for my MSI FIS2R Board's sata they both failed..

Yeah, I've tried Mandrake on my desktop. I didn't really notice anything special on it that I couldn't find with Windows.

The setup is straightforward enough. It guides you through everything. Although, as brian said, there's a lot of googling in the beginning.

Be sure to give yourself a good while to learn.
