ceez Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Hey peeps,I was wondering if there's some sort of software which can remotely connect to pc's on a network and retrieve the drivers from that machine. Maybe some sort of MS console snap-in?!??!I want to collect drivers for about 6 different dell precision wrkstn models that we have at work and going through the dell site and figuring out the various drivers they have just for one device is time consuming.Kinda like a software called "my drivers" which collects drivers on your local pc, but this one is for network use....anyone?thkzceez
IR8Tech Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 If you don't want to script and assuming all 6 of your PCs are XP (with correct open ports on firewall and you have admin creds) try using msinfo32.exe. After you start it go to View->Remote Computer then provide hostname or IP. This will give you a list of h/w components and software installed via Windows Installer.
ceez Posted March 6, 2005 Author Posted March 6, 2005 cool, thats something new i didnt know! man i love this board!!do you know what ports are used? all pc's are XP in a domain. this will allow me to connect to the machine and download the appropriate drivers???
