Peter G Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Hi guys!Yesterday evening I was busy with my girlfriends Laptop and had to delete her brothers user-account, but wanted to keep the data. So, I deleted the account and used the option 'keep data' (I am not sure if it is called this way, because it's a german version of Windows). But the problem is now that I can't find the data from the account anywere!! I already made a new account for him with exactly the same name, but still his data is gone!Just after I first deleted his account I checked in the 'Documents and Settings' folder to see if his user-account folder still excisted or not, but it was already gone, so I hoped that Windows put his data in some kind of image-file or something like that, but after restoring his account the data did NOT come back.Is his data really gone or am I doing something wrong?? Is there some kind of way to restore his data?!??!Thanks a lot!!Pete
The Glimmerman Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 I think u lost the data.U should used the 'Files and Settings Transfer Wizard' in the systemtoolsI think
Peter G Posted March 6, 2005 Author Posted March 6, 2005 I think u lost the data.U should used the 'Files and Settings Transfer Wizard' in the systemtoolsI think<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Then why does Windows even bother to ask me (as I deleted the account) if I wanted to keep the data or not??
KAndle Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 I don't think you should have created another account with the same name. Try Drive Rescue. It might help recover the deleted files if they were deleted. It might not depending on what happened.
