How Come When Explorer Crashes This Happens?

Featured Replies

You know what I'm on about, some 3rd party icons fail to re-appear if you kill explorer and start it again

where is this info stored? would like to 'keep' icons for other programs which currently are not saved

hope someone knows!

When you say icons are missing, do you mean from the desktop?

And those "icons" are all shortcuts (UNLIKE the Network, My Computer, Recycle Bin, and Outlook icon for example)? With other words, the icons you are missing have the little arrow in them?

Because ALL shortcuts are saved in the Current User profile Desktop folder and the ALL user profile Desktop folder.

If you're refering to the icons that are in the tray, if explorer crashes those programs are still running. I don't know of any other solution but press the ctrl+alt+delete keys and in the processes tab, end the process for the program and then restart the program. The icon will then reappear. I hope this will help you.
