How would I change a computer name without actually visiting the machine? :huh:

You can connect to it remotely with remote desktop or some third party program like VNC and change it's name.

That's really the only way. If it's a member of a domain keep in mind you will need to remove it from the domain, restart, change the name, restart, rejoin to the domain, restart.
