punker
Ok, I get access denied when trying to view the event viewer of a remote computer when i try to manage it. Windows 2000 computers work fine, but cant do it with xp sp2(dont know about sp1 though). I have found some articles that say go to group policy enable administration ports and open these and that port. And ive done it, and it still doesnt work. I have also found people(when i googled) that have no luck when trying microsofts crap solution. Any know how i can manage a remote pc??
katn
We had the same problem. There is a registry fixHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SECUREPIPESERVERS\WINREGAdd the LOCAL SERVICE group and give it READ permissions.adding the Everyone group with read permissions will work too.Bob
xla76
Obvious response - It's the firewall on the remote pc. turn it off (if you have decent network security) or reconfigure.
