durex Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Im having some issues with drivers on my UA cd. Ive placed the necesary driver files in their own seperate folders for each piece of hardware (ie: $OEM$\$1\drivers\D_001_network, D_002_graphics, etc). Ive placed the correct paths in winnt.sif (ie: OemPnPDriversPath = "drivers\D_000_chipset;drivers\D_001_network,etc")But some arnt being installed. More specifically, my monitor (Sony G410), Soundcard (Audigy Platnium) and the gameport on the Audigy. After the install is complete they just show the yellow exclamation mark (except for the monitor, which just uses the generic driver). Now if I choose Update Driver on each component and browse to the inf located in the driver folder Ive created, they install without issue, so I know I have the correct files in there... I just cant figure out why theyre not automatically installing during Windows installation. Thanks!

Search for "default monitor" "generic monitor driver" "installing monitor driver" and you'll find what you need I think. Monitor driver installation never works properly...For the soundcard driver: are you sure you added the CORRECT driver? (different driver for different Audigy serie) Are you sure you pointed to the correct folder?
durex Posted February 6, 2005 Author Posted February 6, 2005 For the soundcard driver: are you sure you added the CORRECT driver? (different driver for different Audigy serie) Are you sure you pointed to the correct folder?Positive.. again, for both the sound card and game controller, when I goto install it, I choose, Dont Search and then Have Disk, then point it to the inf thats in my drviers\soundcard directory.. once I do this, it installs without an issue.Only thing I can think of is I had both the soundcard and game port drivers in the same folder... I figured since they were both from the same driver "pack" from soundblaster that it would be fine... Ive since placed the game port controller drivers into its own seperate directory and updated my winnt.sif to reflect this... I havent tested it since I made this change, however. Would this have been the issue?

Please check if you've got the latest driver, and if WHQL signing isn't broken (you didn't edit the inf file or delete the cat file, did you?)
