horsecharles
Saraband:See what you find when you open up your computer case & peer inside? I would think about adding an extra fan for it, to quell any overheating problems-- and an electrostatic dust collector-- for the dual purpose of absorbing & keeping any extra-generated dust/lint particles & static charges off the other innards. Kudos on keeping it in such pristine condition!btw Are you still waiting for SP2 kinks to get worked out?

^_^
For those who slipstreamed SP2 into their installation, I've heard no problemsI actually installed it on a 9 month old installation of windows for both my wife's and my computer with no problems. But I'm a little anal about keeping windows clean too. No ad/spyware allowed, plus I keep the registry clean as well.I just remember how people said SP1 was evil. I suspect that was the bootleggers who couldn't upgrade
horsecharles
I also keep spyware out fanatically, and i've disabled a ton of services.I've heard of folks even having problems with the Autopatcher version that includes SP2-- for me it's the other way around:I've had one problem that i solved by just re-running the autopatcher-- choosing to over-install everything, replace identical files when prompted... Zxian
For those who slipstreamed SP2 into their installation, I've heard no problemsWell, here's one!I've tried using SP2 on my laptop, and it causes everything to simply bog down like mad! I've tried installing SP2 by just about every means possible... WU, Network Installer, Slipstreaming, nLite, AutoPatcher, etc etc etc (I know the last three are pretty much the same).I also don't like the new wireless config at all... it's big and bulky... I like things small and lean.I might throw my old HD in my computer and give it another shot later on...
Saraband
made a slipstreamed unattended xp pro sp2. setup gets to installing devices 34mins to go, screen goes black...end of story. yet the same CD will work fine on my other 2 PCs, but i don't want auto updates, and DCOM, and background intelligence [CIA ?] running all the time. don't need a firewall from MS, or a popup blocker, or forced ,limited TCPIP.SYS connections...in fact evrything that SP2 installs - i disable, so i figured i don't need the BSOD and app errors that SP2 also delivers :-(
