I'm a civil engg. student, and have two assignments (submit report, abt. 50-60 A4 pgs):

For surveying, the topic is "Evolution of surveying".

For chemistry, it is "applications of thermochemistry in civil engg."

I can fairly easily do the surveying one, but I don't know the head-tail of what the chemistry one means.

Help PLZ.

Well... start with the Thermochemistry part...

I (as an Engineering Physics student) see that as using something that blows up (and generates heat in the process) by means of a chemical reaction.

Applications of this for Civil Engineering could be to use dynamite to blast your way through a mountain for a railroad.

Just a thought....

Engineering Physicists build the weapons... Civil Engineers build the targets.

Good point. I'm gonna find out what to do with this assignment.

Also, for materials, I think concrete will be the best topic...eh?? among various types of metals and non-metals.
