Business management software advice please

I'm looking for a software solution for a company

It's not a large company, but it's a fairly complex setup.

Right now what they have is called Techgap Distribution Systems running on a Unix server and it's fairly complex and not end user freindly.

So, they are looking for a solution that is stable, secure and user freindly.

They are a Deutz dealer, outsourse some things, build some things in-house, plus invoice some things on wholesale and retail level.

Basically I was told that it would be nice to track engine inventory by serial number. Also track who owns the engine, whether it's them or the Deutz people, and also be able to track what bank note paid for the engine and if that note is paid or not.

As far as parts inventory, they need software to track parts and have triggers for inventory order if the parts get too low or warnings if parts levels on certain things are overstocked. Multiple vendors capability for parts would also be needed.

Also, they need an easier way to track both add and pulled inventory. I would like to see a barcode and scanner setup myself as that would make it easier for the shop guys, and would help keep it accurate.

It would also help if said system could track bin and aisle numbers to assist in locating hard to find parts.

If somebody knows of a workable solution, I'd love to hear it.

Even if it means seperating their invoicing/accounting from the manufacturing and inventory, I'd like to hear any ideas

Now, to top it all off, if somebody knows how to import the existing data from the old to the new, I'll buy you a cigar :thumbup
